C1 Mobility in Borken (Germany)

From the 18th to 24th March we've spent some days in Borken (Germany) to visit its vocational studies school Berufskolleg in Borken where we have attented quite interesting workshops as well as sharing the best stratetegies to work reading in our classes.
Among others, we've been discussing which activities to include in our project manual "The Teaching of Living Abilities with Literacy: A Training Manual, Reading Strategies". We also assessed previous actions and future actions to be implemented at our high school, among others, The Project Book Fair. We also set the date for Estonian mobility next September 2018.

This term... Frankenstein!

Our students have started reading the graded book Frankenstein to celebrate its 200th anniversary this year 2018. We'd like our students to meet and know deeply one of the most influential 19th century writers and topics such as creation, appearances, revenge, sciences, compasion, forgiveness and sacrifice.
To start with, a brainstorming in pairs is convenient. Our students have been working to deal with anticipation activities, guessing and infering what can comes next by means of answering an inital questionnaire:

  • Who wrote Frankenstein?
  • When was it written?
  • Who was Victor?
  • Who does the Monster kill? what do you think?
  • What do you think happens to Victor in the end?
  • What do you know about Frankenstein?
  • What do you want to know?
