Erasmus Day 2019 at our high school

   We have been holding two different Erasmus Day, one on the 6th June 2018 and another one on 5th June 2019 to show other students, parents, school teachers, authorities and members of La Llagosta community our progress on our Erasmus + project "Go For". 

   Programmes included our project's students explaining and showing their project actions and mobilities, as well as, a kahoot for everyone, and even a contest with awesome project memories for everyone! In this edition, students were given their Europass certificate of mobility that certifies their project objectives and mobility details.

Estonia...again!

   From the 25th to 29th March 2019 we travelled to Parnü to visit again our Estonian friends from Paikuse Pohikool, this time to participate in the last students' exchanges from our project. During a week, students stayed in their hosts' homes where they got to know the Estonian culture deeper.

   During school days, the Estonian coordinator prepared a wonderful programme of workshops and outer activities that we really enjoyed and we will never forget. Among others, we visited Parnü municipality and Kihnu island for a day. We also visited Estonian capital city, Tallinn.

   Regarding school work, our students were encouraged to work in mixed-nationality groups to create their own stories for some days. They took part in different workshops to get to know each other, find the keywords of their stories following the kinesthetic learning, and start working in their stories plan.

   In order to create a certain mystery and interest to read their stories, they also recorded a short story trailer at school and its surroundings. What a great week!

GoFor... Estonia!

 From 24th to 28th September, five teachers from Institut Marina attended the 4th teachers' training mobility under the Erasmus + programme GoFor at Paikuse Pohikool in Parnü (Estonia). 

   We spent a week working collaboratively to review project objectives,  continuous assessment actions (partnership swot analysis), collecting best activities to deal with writing strategies in our lessons and getting conclusions, reviewing Twinspace second-year tasks for our students to implement, as well as agreeing on 2nd-year mobilities. 

   Apart from all these issues, it was a wonderful week where we also had the chance to meet first-hand Estonian culture and people living in Parnü. Indeed, this will be the location of our next students' exchange mobility last week of March. 

Etwinning Label

   Our project, Go For Literacy to Enlighten your Future, has been awarded with an Etwinning label for its collaborative students' work.

   During one year, our students have been implementing reading circles based on different English novels. Moreover, our work has also been focused on Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein to celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2018. This innovative methodology has helped out students to become a bit more interested in reading and their reading and speaking skills have considerably improved. During our second year project, we'll continue working on Twinspace to write a collaborative story in groups. 

Twinspace Reading Circles

    Our students have started their own Etwinning project based on Reading Circles where they will be working in groups formed by one student from a different country. Prior to meetings, they have been discussing how to plan meetings as well as the distribution of chapters.

    Once done and agreed, they have started meeting online to discuss their role worksheets and reach agreements. Their conclusions will be published on project Twinspace by the discussion leader after every meeting. This seems it works, go on like this, both students and partners!

   The most important thing in this kind of European projects is our students' engagement and involvement in the tasks proposed. To get so, partners decided to implement a paralell Etwinning project where our students will be the protagonists. Now they've got their own project site, their project Twinspace, where to implement reading projects, share opinions and discuss their findings.        Moreover, we've launched our project Youtube Channel where to upload our students' videos because....a picture is worth a thousand words, isn't it?

Europe for Culture also in Carnival

   Last 9th February we celebrated Carnival at school. Our 1st ESO students organised their traditional Haka dance of Maori culture (New Zealand). It was a vigorous dance and they actually achieved to show us their strenght and prowess as former warriors used to do before a war!
   It was our way to connect our pupils with a different culture from the other side of the world. In a way, we wanted to contribute to Europe's celebration throughtout the year our diverse cultural heritage across Europe and worldwide. Watch this out!

 

Etwinning Project Reading Circles

   Our 4t ESO students have been involved in a new project entitled Reading Circles where , in circle groups , deal with an autonomous study of the graded reader Frankestein (Oxford Readers B1). By means of performing a study role (collector, word master, discussion leader, passage person, culture collector and summariser) , each student dives deep into the novel, prompts open questions and discuss with other his/her views. One session per week will be devoted to this task. And roles will be each week rotated.

   To help slow learners, they are provided with a set of question cards to encourage to brainstorm questions and possible answers according to their role assigned.

   After some voting days, we already have three winner logos that will represent INS Marina and the project in the project final logo contest which will take place on 10th and 11th January 2018. These are the results. The designer of Logo 1, Naim Muñoz, will take part in the project and its mobilities. The rest of you will have more points to participate too! Congrats!

Hi everybody!

Time flies and now there are only two weeks times left for our project's partners to come to La Llagosta to spend some days with us at Ins Marina. To get ready, our students have introduced the project "GoFor" to disseminate project's objectives, participants and expected results in our school's magazine "Aniram". Good job dear students! Tasks to be done in October

   As a first step, we need to analyse what is our starting point regarding our students' reading, listening, speaking and writing skills; as well as other skills related to autonomy, decision making, critical thinking or problem solving. To do this, we'd like our 4t ESO students to do these surveys. Check them out!
